The structure of the air-cooled radiator is very good in terms of strength, and it is also ideal in terms of heat transfer. Because there is no gap between the shell, the heat exchange tube, the tube bundle and the shell when the fluid flows in the flow channel. A situation in which the fluid passing through these bypasses does not fully participate in the heat exchange can be avoided. And the corrugation of the plate can make the fluid turbulent at a small flow rate. Therefore, the air-cooled radiator has a high heat transfer coefficient, which is generally considered to be three to five times that of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
2.The temperature difference correction coefficient is large
In the shell-and-tube heat exchanger, two fluids flow in the shell side and the tube side respectively, which is generally a cross-flow flow method. If further analysis, the shell side is a mixed flow, and the tube side is a multi-flow flow, so the logarithmic average temperature difference should be selected as a correction coefficient. The correction factor is usually small. The flow of fluid in the air-cooled radiator is generally a co-current or counter-current flow method.
3.Small footprint
The air-cooled radiator has a compact structure, and the heat exchange area per unit volume is several times that of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger. Unlike shell and tube heat exchangers, it is not necessary to reserve an inspection place for pulling out the tube bundle (unless the location of the device is lifted out for inspection). Therefore, to achieve the same heat exchange task, the air-cooled radiator occupies about one-fifth to one-tenth of that of the shell-and-tube heat exchanger.
