01 .What is THE oil radiator?

The oil radiator is a device that accelerates the heat dissipation of lubricating oil and keeps it at an appropriate temperature. In high performance, high power engine, due to the large heat load, oil temperature will affect the lubrication performance, so the engine will be equipped with oil radiator.

02 .What is the function of radiator?

The engine oil radiator is arranged in the lubricating oil circuit to keep the engine oil working in a suitable temperature range, and force the engine oil to dissipate heat at high temperatures. When the oil temperature is higher than the normal value, it will cause the oil to be too thin and the lubrication effect will decrease. The oil radiator can absorb the heat of the oil and keep the average temperature of the oil in the lubrication system normal.

03 .What are the classifications of oil radiators?

①  Air-cooled oil cooler

Use the head wind when the vehicle is running to dissipate heat from the engine oil. Generally, the heat dissipation effect of an air cooler mainly depends on the heat exchange area and air volume of its component radiator.

② Water-cooled oil radiator

The water-cooled oil radiator is small in size and convenient to arrange, and will not cause excessive heat dissipation of the oil, and the temperature of the oil is stable.

Most of the water-cooled oil radiators are installed above the oil filter, and are cooled by the coolant flowing through the cooling system.

04 .How to judge the failure of the oil radiator?

When the oil radiator is used for a long time, the core tube will be blocked and the coolant will leak out, which will cause the temperature of the engine to rise and affect the normal operation of the engine.

①Oil leakage: The oil radiator and the cylinder body are sealed by a gasket. Because the temperature is very high, it is easy to age and cause oil leakage in the oil radiator, which increases oil loss.

Water temperature rise: Since the inside of the oil radiator is connected to the water channel of the engine cooling system, when the interior is damaged, the oil will flow into the cooling water channel, resulting in a decrease in heat dissipation of the cooling water, an increase in the water temperature, and an emulsification reaction.
